SCAVO'S BID IN OLD FORGE
First off, let me say that as far as national politics goes, I disagree with everything Frank Scavo says anytime he opens his mouth. And I dare say that Frank Scavo would say the very same thing about me when it comes to the great issues of the day. But when Frank Scavo ran for State Senator in 2010 to replace Bob Mellow I was pulling for him. He did well in his debate with the hand picked John Blake (although Blake won a 5 man primary there were strings being pulled) and articulated a watch dog position that is and was sorely needed in Harrisburg. Scavo now is making a run to be the Mayor of Old Forge. And given the developments recently there (especially regarding the police department) a guy like Frank is needed. He can be a pain in the butt but sometimes in local government that’s a good thing. Scavo recently had a positive political development in his latest bid for public office. Here’s what happened via a report from his campaign:During "An evening with Mayoral candidate Frank Scavo" campaign event Wednesday evening, Mr Scavo's two Republican challengers officially announced that they have suspended their campaigns. Republican Gus Gasdik, who is on the May primary ballot, and Mr Robert Hughes both pledged to support Mr Scavo in his quest for the Mayor's seat and good government. "I thank my opponents, and friends, for reaching these personal decisions and unifying our parties efforts to support my Republican Mayoral candidacy." This officially clears the Republican field of challengers in the Old Forge Mayoral Primary race. Mr Scavo is now unopposed in the May 21st primary election.
