HILLARY TAKES APART TRUMP
Wow, it helps when a candidate constantly on the go takes a few days off. Hillary Clinton eschewed campaigning over the Memorial Day weekend and finally provided a concentrated attack on Mr. Trump that exposed his weakness in Foreign Policy. Hillary Clinton came roaring back on the campaign trail the other day and eviscerated Donald Trump’s temperament as well as his lack of knowledge on Foreign Policy. Take a look at this:
THIS IS NOT YOU DAD’S WILKES BARRE CITY COUNCIL
The recent push-back against Wilkes Barre Mayor Tony George’s proposal to hire an ambulance company tied to Louis DeNaples was pretty impressive. Even my District Councilman Mike Merritt (we were sure he had disappeared into thin air because he seems oblivious to anything going on in the North end) got into the act with newcomers Beth Gilbert and Mike Belusko citing their concerns about an association with Trans Med. Veteran Bill Barrett has stated that the Mayor created a problem where one did not exist.
The Citizens’ Voice on Sunday revealed that the wealthy and influential DeNaples family is majority shareholder in Trans-Med Ambulance, which new Mayor Tony George unilaterally chose as the city’s new primary backup responder for EMS calls. The move ended a mutual aid pact with nonprofit ambulance services in three bordering municipalities, and drew a unanimous rebuke from city council.
A holding firm linked to DeNaples owned at least 56 percent of Trans-Med Ambulance Inc. as of August, according to disclosure forms filed with the state Department of Human Services.
It appears that there are votes on Council to stop this plan. Gone are the days of the 5-0 rubber stamp City Council in Wilkes Barre. (Citizen's Voice).
THEN THERE’S TONY BROOKS
The median under construction. (Photo: Times Leader).
Tony Brooks and your blog editor. (Photo: LuLac archives).
Newcomer Tony Brooks has taken to Face book and other forms of public communication to criticize the medians on River Street off the Market Street Bridge. Brooks has said they are hideous and it makes his blood boil to see them. The medians, Brooks says are ugly. I agree but my question is where were the people when all this was going down?
The things are in now and were designed by Penn Dot. Penn Dot is reverting to form.
It used to be back in the 70s and early 80s that Penn Dot was the statewide joke for cronyism and incompetence. That image was restored during the 90s and into the new century.
For sure Penn Dot is more informational than it used to be. But the silliness with the roundabouts as well as this is bringing back the agency’s old reputation as a place where bad ideas flourish. Plus the justification by the crack Penn Dot staff essentially sends the message that we here in the Lu and the Lac are idiots who need circles and medians to keep us from killing each other.
I’m sure James May would disagree but only in Pennsylvania, and in Wilkes Barre would you spend millions on building a beautiful waterfront and put a big old ass ugly strip in the middle of the road.
Maybe Tony Brooks and I are wrong. Maybe they put the medians in there to slow traffic down to see the remodeled project.
After all, 60,000 cars go by every day. With the medians, they sure will get a good slow look.
