Since Luzerne County Manager Robert Lawton gave his resignation, there was talk that County Solicitor Dave Pedri would be the perfect Acting County Manager. As Solicitor he has seen every challenge that the new form of government in Home Rule has brought. Plus Pedri is reasonable and even handed. We wish him luck. OBAMA DOES THE RIGHT THING

President Obama took Executive Action on expanding background checks for guns. He was very emotional as he said that there needs to be commonsense in checks. This whole thing could have been avoided if in 2013 a few cowardly Senators manned up and made this possible. Obama hammered congressional Republicans for opposing measures like expanded background checks as he called on Americans to punish them at the polls. He defended his actions to strengthen background checks for purchasing guns, answering critics who say the measure would not make it harder for criminals to obtain firearms.
Here's the deal: In addition to expanding and bolstering the background check system to cover sales that take place online and at gun shows, Obama said the administration will provide more funding for mental health treatment, FBI staff and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives agents.
Like a bunch of scared silly asses, Americans are storming gun stores thinking that their gun rights will be taken away.
The GOP Presidential contenders are saying that a Republican President can overturn the Executive Order. Marco Rubio says the President is obsessed with undermining the Second Amendment. Hey Florida boy, WHAT GUN HAS THE PRESIDENT TAKEN AWAY FROM US?? NAME ONE!!! Let's hope reasonable Americans won't let that happen.

The President said, "The gun lobby may be holding Congress hostage, but they can't hold America hostage. We can't accept this carnage in our communities."
But as Ed Rendell is fond of saying, the gun lobby is a Paper Tiger. He stood up to them 6 times in his electoral bids in Gun friendly Pennsylvania. Won every time.
The NRA is like Oz behind the curtain. But politicians are soooooooooo scared of them it makes me sick.
The President is doing what a tepid and ineffectual Congress won't do. Lead!
For those who say they aren't for it because it will not work, here's my questions. How do you know and what the hell are you afraid of???
