LUZERNE COUNTY COUNCIL VOTES DOWN 20 MILLION DOLLAR LOAN
LOUISIANA’S GOV. JINDAL: NOT MY TIME
The Citizen Voice's Bill Wellock wrote tonight that Luzerne County Council voted 6 to 5 to not take the 20 million dollar loan to bridge the state spending gap.
The Voice reports that with only about $4 million left in the general fund, the county may not be able to pay all its employees for the rest of the year.
The County manager said it needed the loan because the state government was not reimbursing it for money owed to Human Services agencies. The county provides money to the Human Services Division, then is reimbursed by the state.

Louisiana’s Bobby Jindal, the first Indian American Governor dropped out of the race tonight. Jindal’s campaign just never got off the ground. He was hampered by a huge field, a sense of desperation and the fact that as he said it was just not his time. Jindal was a Governor like other struggling state chief executive Chris Christie and Jeb Bush. The party seems to be divided in wanting either a Donald Trump or Ben Carson, two outsiders who are pllar extremes of the other. Jindal had no chance to break out.
The 44-year-old governor said he wasn't ready to endorse another candidate, but intended to support the eventual Republican presidential nominee.
He cannot run again and will work with his think tank “American Next” after he leaves office.
