HILLARY 2016 A GO
Hillary Clinton. (Photo: CNN).
E mails and Benghazi controversy be damned, Hillary Clinton is announcing her run for President today. So other than John Webster owing Nancy Kman $100.00, (I never like to see anyone lose money on a sure thing) this is good news. I was a Clinton backer in ’08 and am prepared to do the same now. The announcement will come out in a video today and then Clinton will go to that insufferable state of Iowa to kiss the asses of those voters who think because their state is the first in the nation that they are more astute politically than anyone else. PLEASE! Talk to someone from Iowa for five minutes. She will do a listening tour and nod her head when she needs to and laugh at loud at stupid farm jokes. This is the price one has to pay to become President. One on one she can pull it off. But here’s what Clinton needs to do right off the bat.
1. Tighten up your organization and make sure the architect of the 2008 early debacle Mark Penn is nowhere near the campaign. For every three young people she hires, have a team captain who is seasoned and knows the ground she’s treading on. No friends, no giving staff breaks, this is war and she needs to act like it.
2. Apologize for nothing. Look at how many Benghazi investigations they were. Point out that four people died in Benghazi, (a true tragedy) BUT 4500 died in an Iraq war that lasted longer than WWII fought on a false premise. Know going in that no matter what you do, what you say, there will be an element of haters. You have a thing called The Clinton machine, roll over them.
3. The Media.. They never were your friends and therefore don’t be afraid to slap them around when need be. Or maybe once a week take a page out of the Tom Wolf playbook. Just because the media asks a question, there’s no reason why you have to answer it.
4. You are a woman. Play that gender card. Put Helen Reddy’s “I Am Woman” on your Ipad if you have to be reminded of that politically.
5. Go with God, have fun and make sure Bill is watching the grandchild. That would be an awesome photo op.
ROOSEVELT’S DEATH AT 70
FDR at one of his fireside chats. (Photo: MBN Network archives).
Seventy years ago today, Franklin Roosevelt died when he was embarking on his fourth term as President. Growing up and especially during the Kennedy assassination and subsequent national days of mourning, my parents and relatives recounted the time when FDR had died. On March 29, 1945, Roosevelt went to the Little White House at Warm Springs, Georgia, to rest before his anticipated appearance at the founding conference of the United Nations. On the afternoon of April 12, Roosevelt said, "I have a terrific pain in the back of my head." He then slumped forward in his chair, unconscious, and was carried into his bedroom. The president's attending cardiologist, Dr. Howard Bruenn, diagnosed a massive cerebral hemorrhage (stroke). At 3:35 p.m. that day, Roosevelt died. (Wikipedia.com) Like the Kennedy assassination my parents could tell me the great details of the day that it happened. To that generation, Roosevelt epitomized the Presidency in all of its power to do good. Now there were some people around back then who said that he started the country on the way to ruin.
But the things Roosevelt started, programs like Social Security and massive rebuilding projects that brought this country into a more progressive lifestyle were his handiwork. What slays me is when many people of a later generation s sitting fat and happy on social security and union pensions bitch and moan about big government and how the tax and spend liberals are “taking away their money and their country”. I hear it all the time. They forget that without those programs and a Foreign Policy during WWII with the help of Winston Churchill, those people complaining wouldn’t have a check......................AND WOULDN’T HAVE A COUNTRY.
After Roosevelt's death, an editorial by The New York Times declared, "Men will thank God on their knees a hundred years from now that Franklin D. Roosevelt was in the White House. Anyone who thinks that is not a true statement should re read history. Or just shut up.
